THE CRITICISM OF AHL AL-SUNNAH TO THE SHI’ITE CREED
(By Associate Professor Sayın DALKIRAN)

We offer to your perusal a significant historical book consisting of replies to the criticisms of Iran, political rival of the Ottoman State for many a century, from the aspects of notion and belief.

The work titled “El-Feyzü’r-Rabbânî fî Ebâtili’l-İrânî” was authored by Ahmed Feyzi of Çorum in a period wherein Anatolia had been teeming with Shiite propaganda, in which the writer expressed his personal views in Turkish, attempting to exemplify even the most obscure subjects in such manner as could be perceived by large masses of public.

Touching a large number of religious subjects this work is nearly encyclopedic. This work titled “El-Feyzü’r-Rabbânî fî Ebâtili’l-İrânî”, authored by Ahmed Feyzi of Çorum, wherein the book called “Husniyah”, which was published and distributed gratis to public, is refuted, consists of such essential subjects as Tawhid (Oneness of Allah), Nubuwwah (Prophethood), Qadha-Qadar (Fulfillment-Predestination), Caliphate-Imamate, Ahl al-Bayt (the Prophet’s Family), Sahabah (the Prophet’s Companions) and al-La”nah (Curse) as well as evaluations as regards to the Seventy-three Sects, an issue that is more often than not encountered with in the History of the Mazhabs of Islam. Besides, the book touches a great number of subjects that do not fall in the concern of belief but ibadah (devotions) and muamalah (transactions), among which are found such issues as are not disputed between Shiites and Orthodox Muslims (Ahl al-Sunnah) apart from such matters as Niqah al-Mut’ah (Wedding of Mut’ah) about which there exists abysmal conflicts.

The reason why the Foundation for Ottoman Researches has published this work is not to carry to agenda a dispute existing in history but to present to the academic world the analysis of a significant work in this field.
